Beholder Wins Breeders' Cup Distaff at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV -The Main Event on the Breeders' Cup Friday card - the $2 million Grade 1 Distaff closed what was an exceptional day of racing at Santa Anita. Beholder with legendary jockey Gary Stevens aboard made it look easy at 5-2 odds cruising to a 4 1/2 length victory in the field of six. Beholder won last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies proving that she absolutely loves the big stage - she is now 5-for-5 at Santa Anita as well. Close Hatches finished second, while Authenticity was third. Royal Delta, the 7-5 pick, ran fourth. Street Girl was fifth while Princess of Sylmar was the disappointment of the race finishing last.
